It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, Filippo Ciufo, on July 23, 2023 at the age of 90 after a difficult struggle with lung disease. Born in Tufo di Minturno, Lazio, Italy, Filippo embarked on several journeys in life, leaving Italy for Australia as a teenager, then sailing to Canada to be with his wife and true love, Maria.

Filippo lived his life with humility, integrity, and honesty. He asked for little, but gave a lot, and together with Maria opened their hearts and home to everyone. He was a proud and hard working welder, but also enjoyed his free time tending to the garden, enjoying time with family and friends, playing bocce, cards (and winning), watching his game shows and beloved Leafs, vacations abroad, and just sitting on the porch, relaxing and catching up with the neighbours.

Filippo will be deeply missed by his loving children Tony (Victoria) and Angelo (Sara), as well as his grandchildren Christopher, Valentina (Gianmarco), Gabriel, Chiara, Jonathan, and Simon. He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Maria, Alessandro, Marianne, Romolo and Lynne; and was preceded in passing by his siblings Elena, Arcangelo (Maria), Angelina (Armenio), Domenico (Virginia), and Lorenzo.

Filippo is fondly remembered and respected by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He has been an incredible example of courage and resilience throughout his life. He leaves behind a strong and lasting legacy and we are comforted knowing that he will be reunited with Maria and other loved ones in heaven.
