Ethel Jane Williams (nee Moore); in her 102 year on July 18, 2022. Predeceased by her husband, Edwin John (Ted) and her children Edwin James (Ted) and Donna. She leaves behind her granddaughter Tara (Rob), great grandchildren, Colton and Jessica, brother Earl, daughter in law Julie (Jack) and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
She was a force to be reckoned with and was never afraid to speak her mind. Her life was full of highs and more than her share of lows, but through it all she managed to soldier on and live her life to the fullest it could be.
She loved playing golf and did so until she was in her late 80’s. For most of these years she walked the course which she attributed to keeping her strong and healthy. She was pretty good at it too, winning multiple tournaments, scoring holes in one, and more often than not, beating her late husband’s score.
She was also a great card player – bid euchre was her game of choice. She won so much that she almost bankrupted the other seniors who played with her. She delighted in showing us the stack of quarters that she had amassed during her many winning streaks.
She loved her soap opera, The Young and the Restless and when her son was living, they spend much time discussing the characters as if they were real people. It worked well for them as if one missed the show (it wasn’t often), the other would bring them up to date leaving no detail out.
Finally, she loved her family with all of her heart and soul. She had many brothers and sisters that she always enjoyed seeing and spoke about fondly. Attending the annual Moore Family picnics were always events that she looked forward to. Those who were dear, knew that they were such an important part of her life.
The last few years were not as kind as one would hope, as she suffered from multiple health issues but through it all she kept her dignity, sense of humour, strong opinions and our admiration.
Thanks to the staff at West Park Long Term Care especially the nursing and PSW staff on Hughes Prittie for their excellent care of Ethel during her time there.
In keeping with her wishes, no funeral will take place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date with details to follow.
