Ernst Walter Stieb
Husband, father, grandfather, pharmacist, historian, and nice guy who finished first. Born August 23, 1929 to Elizabeth and Henry Stieb, in Windsor, Ontario, and died peacefully on February 2, 2015 in Oakville, Ontario. Ernie will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by Cathy, his wife of 60 years, sister Helen (George), children Sue (Steve) and Dave (Jane), and grandchildren Dianne, Katie, David, Mark and Joe. He made many friends during a fulfilling career as an accomplished academic, first at the University of Wisconsin and then at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto, and was the founding curator of The Niagara Apothecary museum. He was a kind, gentle, generous man who thoroughly enjoyed life, including traveling, photography, reading, painting and music, and spending time with family, friends and pets. The family thanks the kind and caring staff of Churchill Place and Wyndham Manor. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7th at 3:00 pm with visiting one hour prior at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
