Erminia DeCarolis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on December 2, 1932, in the picturesque town of Amaseno, in the Province of Frosinone, Italy.
Erminia's journey took her far from her birthplace, as she eventually settled in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where she spent the latter part of her life. She adored her new home and embraced the diverse culture and opportunities it offered.
Erminia had a deep passion for cooking and gardening. She would spend hours in the kitchen, creating delicious meals, especially her famous homemade pasta and soup. Her culinary skills were a testament to her love for her family and friends who cherished every meal shared with her. Her green thumb was evident in her beautifully manicured garden, where she nurtured colorful blooms and lush greenery and vegetable garden.
In her youth, Erminia found love and companionship in her marriage to Domenico. They shared many cherished moments together, building a loving family. Their daughters, Carmina and Teresa, were the joy of their lives and loved them unconditionally and took great pride in their accomplishments. Erminia's devotion to her family was unwavering, and she always put their needs above her own.
Erminia was a pillar of strength and a source of unconditional love for her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren, Marco, Adriana, and Ray, held a special place in her heart, and she took great pride in watching them grow and thrive. She shared many beautiful memories with them, which will forever be etched in their hearts. Her great-grandchildren, Cody, Madison, and Tristan, brought immense joy and laughter to her life, her legacy will continue through them. They will carry the memory of her love and kindness in their hearts as they navigate through life.
Erminia was a dear sister to Rosa (Elesio) , Sebastiano (Teresa) and Antonio. She cherished the bond they shared and special moments they spent together. Erminia also leaves behind her nephew Rocco and nieces Donna and Gina and great nephews Steven and Anthony and great niece Jennifer who will greatly miss her presence.
Her defining personality traits included strength, love, and compassion. Erminia had a nurturing spirit, always offering a helping hand and a listening ear to those in need. Her empathy and kindness touched the lives of many, leaving an unforgettable mark. Her memory will forever be cherished.
Erminia DeCarolis will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18th in the chapel at Ward Funeral Home in Woodbridge at 1p.m. Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
