Elsa Visentin (née Colledani) passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Humber River Hospital in Toronto at the age of 96 after contracting COVID-19.
Beloved wife of the late Carlo with whom she spent 60 wonderful years. Adored and dearly missed by her family: her eldest son Giovanni “John” (Liliana), his children Julia (Derek) and Daniel, and their mother Donna, her youngest son Dennis (Sylvana) and their daughters Carly and Jessica (Michael).
Loving daughter of the late Lucia and Francesco “Checco”. Cherished sister of Lina (Bruno, predeceased), Dina (Alfeo), and brother Luigi (predeceased) (Elia). Predeceased by parents-in-law Regina and Giovanni, predeceased by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Valentino “Nino” (Maria), Lilia (survived by Giovanni), Vilma (Dante), and Pietro. Fondly remembered by her extended family in Italy.
Elsa was born in Clauzetto in the beautiful mountain region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and raised in Spilimbergo, Italy. In 1955, she immigrated to Toronto, with her 10-year-old son and only a steamer trunk, to join her husband where they were blessed with a second son.
Family was the single most important thing to Elsa, always appreciating the joys of time spent together. We will forever treasure her beautiful smile, warm affectionate ways and great sense of humour.
Elsa had a penchant for all things sweet – a small pastry would light up her day. She enjoyed cooking, had a passion for knitting and crocheting, and a love for gardening.
Due to complications associated with COVID-19, a private funeral will be held on August 5 at 1:30pm. The immediate family viewing will be at Ward Funeral Home located on Weston Rd. Entombment will take place at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Woodbridge.
The Visentin family would like to thank the staff at both Humber River Hospital and Villa Colombo for their kindness and care in her final years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Villa Colombo Toronto.
