Eloise Marie Cecile Baker
(nee St-Amour)
1938-2021
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Eloise Baker of Etobicoke, Ontario on Sunday January 17, 2021. She has finally been reunited in eternity with the love of her life Arthur (Bill) Baker, which by all account was a love for the ages. She has also been reunited in heaven with her parents Donat and Rose, brothers Viateur, Germain, Rodrique, Maurice, sister Jeannine, Marie, brother-in-law Gerard and her mother-in-law Kathleen Erb Baker and Arthur Baker.
Eloise is survived by her children Chris (Lesley), Cynthia (Rob), her grandchildren Dylan, Ethan, Connor and Hayley. Also, her brothers Raymond and Ronald, sister Noella, sister-in-laws Aline, Lorna, Eva and Pierrette and a multitude of nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.She will be deeply missed by her many friends and neighbours of over 40 years.
Eloise was born in Masson Quebec, and after graduating from Catholic boarding school in Ottawa in 1956 where she was a proud member of the Fencing team, she enrolled as the first female at University of Ottawa graduating from the Finance and Business program. Upon completion of her degree, she embarked on a journey around the world, with the first stop being Vancouver. While being picked up from the airport Eloise met the love of her life, and they were married six months later in Honolulu Hawaii in December 1965. While living in Vancouver Eloise worked for Simon Fraser University in the admission and bursary department, and was much appreciated.
After they were married, in 1966, Bill was transferred to Toronto and they began their life together in Ontario. Eloise owned four flower shops including the very popular Bee Bonnet Flower Shop on Queen St. After Bill’s passing, Eloise began working as a controller for a bank and later moved into corporate finance eventually spending the last 22 years of her career with what would eventually become Henkel. She received her CGA accreditation.
Eloise spent many happy years at the Boulevard Club and was an active member of the Executive of the Canadian Shark Class Association, as well as, the Canadian Credit Association.
Eloise spent most of her life as a single mother, and a devoted grandmother. As she would often say “I tried my best”. May she finally Rest in Peace and rejoice in her reunion with her true love. We will miss you.

A private funeral service will take place at Ward’s Funeral Home on Thursday January 28th at 1:30pm. Eloise will be interred in the spring with her family at Notre-Dame des Neiges in Masson, Quebec.
