It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Galgoczi. With lionhearted determination, she bravely fought her battle with cancer for the past 7 months and is now at rest. She passed peacefully at home on Sunday, April 28, 2019 (Divine Mercy Sunday) at the age of 70 with loving family by her side. Predeceased by her loving husband John Galgoczi. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Catherine “Kasia”, along with siblings Edward (Ala), Wiesia, Christopher (Jola) and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Work always came first before pleasure for Elizabeth, as Owner-Operator of Vistula Bookkeeping Services she continued working well past the age of retirement. Frugal till the end. She always enjoyed shopping for a bargain. She was an independent self-taught woman, old school all the way, never using a computer. Everything was done manually in her business, repeatedly stating “To err is human, but to really screw things up you need a computer”. Ironically, she still had her own email address and Facebook account.
Her joys in life were spending time with her family. Though a self proclaimed "workaholic", Elizabeth always remembered to take time to relax. She loved watching regularly on TV, the News, shows like The Y&R, Bold & the Beautiful, Jeopardy and any Police or Detective show. Police Dramas fulfilled a desire from a lifelong dream of wanting to have been a Police Officer. She was a proud Canadian, a true patriot, and a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Her favourite player being Tie Domi.
She kept her mind sharp with a daily routine of doing Sudoku and her crosswords. Masterfully, she would always start with the most difficult ones. Elizabeth loved her garden and plants, having a green thumb she tried to save every sprig she could. You could say her house was a jungle. Enjoying the outdoors, particularly camping and sightseeing were some of Elizabeth's favourite ways to unwind, not to mention she loved going out on her boat fishing usually catching her daily limit. She enjoyed smoking meats herself and making other preserves, as well.
Elizabeth made many sacrifices throughout her life, in order that others may enjoy a better life. Her door was always open and she was always willing to give a hand. She herself had a very hard life, but through her own hard work and determination, success and fulfillment was abundant. She loved to joke around, tell jokes, and make people laugh. Often people commented on just how funny she was, in her own quirky way.
May you Rest In Peace my darling Mamusiu. Until we meet again!
