Elizabeth Brown (nee Buckley) was born on February 24, 1923 in Cave Valley, St. Ann, Jamaica West Indies. She was one of two children born to Loretta Clayton and Charles Buckley. In 1969 Elizabeth came to Toronto where she attended George Brown College and Seneca College and earned her diplomas in nursing. In 1972 she was joined by her future husband Leon Redley Brown and daughter Olive.

In 1974 Elizabeth married Leon in Toronto and they were happily married until his passing in 1992. Their union produced one child, Olive however Elizabeth was also mother to Lola (February 15,1948- Dec 21,2020) step-mother to Millicent (Donna), Anne-Marie and Lloyd.

In 1992 she retired from Barton Place Nursing Home after 18 years of dedicated service as a Health Care Aide. She was a devoted and enthusiastic member of the Perth Avenue Seventh-Day Adventist church in Toronto. Elizabeth was a devoted mother, step-mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved travelling, volunteering, watching wrestling, reading, crocheting, drawing, gardening, and spending time with her family. She would often say that it was a “wonderful evening or day” whenever she gets to spend time with her family. She loved her family dearly and was never remise in telling everyone that she loved them.

Elizabeth will be missed by all that knew her. She had the best sense of humour and could always light up any room that she walked into.

On the morning of January 24, 2022, Elizabeth passed away peacefully in her sleep after declining health due to dementia. She is survived by her daughter Olive, step-daughter Millicent (Donna) (Barry), granddaughter Deborah (Roderick), grandson Michael (Lynda), grandson Phillip, granddaughter Shauna, grandson Dmitri, great-granddaughters Brittnie and Madison, nephew Winston and family plus a host of beloved relatives and friends in Jamaica, UK, Canada and the USA.
Rest in eternal peace.
