It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Elisabeth Torresan (nee Hauser) who was called to God’s side on Saturday September 21, 2013 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Maggiorino. Loving mother of Miranda (Mike), Diana (Chris) and Steven. Dear sister of George (Maria) of Guatemala. She is predeceased by her parents Stefan and Anna Hauser and granddaughter Abigail Serena. Elisabeth had a profound impact on all those who knew her and she touched the lives of everyone who crossed her path. She was loved and embraced by so many, including her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, and cherished friends. She lived life to its fullest, with a passion for gardening and learning, an appreciation for arts and culture, and a love for Spanish music. Elisabeth will always be remembered for her devotion to her family, her kindness and compassion towards strangers, and for her strength and poise throughout her valiant 29 month battle with cancer. She may have had cancer, but cancer did not have her. It was her tremendous faith and courage that made her a fighter until the very end. Visitations will be held at Ward Funeral Home (2035 Weston Road) on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass for a Christian burial will be held at St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church 3265 Weston Road on Wednesday September 25, 2013 at 10 a.m.Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery (7300 Hwy. 27 in Woodbridge). If desired, donations may be made in Elisabeth’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
