With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Elia Petricone, née Macciocchi, on Monday, February 18 2019, in her 93rd year. She follows those who predeceased her: Lorenzo, the love of her life; her cherished sister and brothers, Antonia, Vincenzo and Paolo. Elia leaves her five children, Ivana, Larry, Franco, Gianna and Pina, with their spouses David Westwood, Lucie Petricone, Lee Petricone, Luigi Lusi and Ralph Giannone. Her sixteen adoring grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was a source of limitless affection for them all: Alessia, Melanie, Michelle, Danielle, Laura, Monique, Tommaso, Benedetta, Jacqueline, Giovanni, Celine, Gian Lorenzo, Athena, Massimo, Luca, and Francesca. Elia will be deeply missed by her sister-in-law and confidante, Silvana Macciocchi, her nieces and nephews, and her dear friends. She was the core of our family gatherings and was happiest surrounded by as many of us as would fit around the table.
Elia lived a beautiful life, with quiet elegance, and a fervid love for her family, community, “il cinema” and the world around her. She was a woman of great inner strength and led her family by understated example. Along with Renzo, she raised a family; built a community of friends; traveled widely until a short time ago; and ensured a legacy of values centered around the table, conversation and the well-being of those she loved. We will deeply miss our homecomings to her.
Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 2035 Weston Road (north of Lawrence Ave) Weston, on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. A service will be held in the chapel on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Michael's Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Please visit our Book of Memories at www.wardfuneralhome.com
