Eleuterio (Altero) Granata

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eleuterio (Altero) Granata at the age of 88. He was a beloved husband of 64 years to Ofelia and a cherished father to Debbie (Marcello) and Dennis (Paola). He was a loving Nonno to Jessica (Anthony), Francesco (Natalie), Lily, and Joshua, and a cherished Nonno B to Giuseppe, Alessio, Vienna, and Emilia. Altero has now reunited in heaven with his parents Gualtiero and Elena, his brother Antonio, and sister Antonietta. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. 

To know Altero was to experience kindness and compassion. He always had a positive outlook on life, offering patience and kind words to all. His smile, sparkle in his eyes, and sense of humour were endearing qualities that will be remembered fondly. 

Growing up in Torricella, Italy during the war, Altero moved to Canada in 1956 in search of a new beginning. He married his fiancee Ofelia in 1960 and worked hard to provide for his family. Despite his busy schedule, he always made time for his loved ones. His dedication and sacrifices will never be forgotten. 

The family will receive condolences at Ward Funeral Home - Woodbridge Chapel on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm. The funeral mass will take place at Immaculate Conception Church in Woodbridge on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 9:30 am, followed by entombment at Glendale Cemetery.
