Remembrance – Eleanor Campbell (Miss Jip)
To every thing there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die
A time to plant, and a time to reap
A time to breakdown, and a time to build up
A time to weep, and a time to laugh
A time to mourn, and a time to dance
A time to be silent, and a time to speak
Today we speak to you about a woman of substance, beauty, and discipline, and for us, this moment is priceless, as we take the time to honour Eleanor Campbell...not only for the joy she brought to our lives, but also for the pain her passing brings.
Eleanor Campbell, affectionately called Miss Jip passed on the 22nd of March 2016. While we know that she is at peace and that her earthly struggles have ended, there is still much sadness in our hearts. It is so difficult for us to say goodbye to such a compassionate person with whom we have had the privilege of sharing our lives with.
Born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Miss Jip was the fourth child for Sebert and Marion Kavanagh. Her other siblings were Roygie, Molly, Hulito, Jimmy, and Andrea. She grew up in St. Elizabeth and migrated to Canada in the late 1970’s. She later met, fell in love, and married Harold Campbell.
Miss Jip touched our lives in so many ways...whether it was her infectious laughter, her warm embrace, or her loving demeanour…we will never forget her influence on us. Her guiding wisdom, forgiving spirit, and nurturing essence are just some of the many attributes that speak paramount of who she was.
Family was very important to Miss Jip and it became the source from which she drew her strength and left her legacy. She was an extraordinary human being who followed her dreams; who took financial responsibility for her family; and who empowered and valued others around her. We thank God for every moment we shared with her, whether it was partaking of her delicious meals, laughing with her, or dancing with her…those memories will be forever embedded in our hearts.
We pray that her beautiful soul will find the eternal peace she truly deserves, as she walks through the pearly gates of Heaven and into the loving arms of God Himself.
Miss Jip is survived by her children Michelle, Jennifer and Gregory, grandson Max, sisters Molly and Andrea, brother Jimmy, nieces, nephews, as well as many relatives and friends.
May God rest her soul!
