It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Eleanor Bromley, on Feb. 25, 2011 peacefully and surrounded by her family at Humber River Hospital. Mom was just weeks away from her 97th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband William George Bromley, parents Edith and Christian Jackaman and brothers Alfred and Eric Jackaman and survived by her siblings Roland Jackaman and Marjorie Mainland. Eleanor grew up in the Dufferin and Eglinton area of Toronto where she also married and raised her 3 children Bill Jr., Judy and Vicki. Some of the happiest times in her life were spent at the family cottage on Lake Couchiching. Here she and her husband had many friends who joined them in singsongs and bonfires. She taught her kids, her grandchildren Rick (Judy), Liette & Chris (Bill & Yvonne) and Cassandra (Vicki) how to swim, row the boat, and play board & card games and still found time for bridge and community support work. In the last few years Nana was fortunate enough to be able to spend precious time with her 3 great grandchildren Max, Reuben & Ronin who love her dearly. Often referred to as the "Mayor of the Beach", Mom was not afraid to express her opinions but was a passionate and caring person with a great sense of humour. She always encouraged us to do our best and to not be afraid of a challenge. Eleanor will be greatly missed by her extended family and many friends including those at the St. Hilda's Towers Residence. Mom was indeed the Matriarch of our family. We love you Mom. Family & friends will be received at the Ward "Weston" Funeral Home (2035 Weston Rd., north of Lawrence Ave. south of the 401) on Wednesday March 2nd, from 1-3pm & 7-9pm. Memorial service in our chapel on Thursday March 3rd, at 12 noon. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Please visit our Book of Memories at www.wardfuneralhome.com
