Elda Maria Marcon (nee Zilio)
March 9, 1935 - August 13, 2023

Peacefully in the company of family on August 13, 2023 a the age of 88. Devoted wife to the late Alessandro (1996). Beloved mother of Gianni (Joanna), and Lisa (Dave). Proud grandmother to Sandra (Michael), Kristine (Matthew), Emma (Josh), and Molly. Predeceased by parents Giovanni and Genoveffa Zilio; and siblings Ermenegildo (d. Luigiana), Alfeo, Silvano (Massimina), Rita Favretto (d. Benito), and Ornorato. Survived by siblings Maria Binotto (Ettore), Apollonia Zardo (Giacondo) and Albert Zilio (d. Barbara). Deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Born and raised in Caselle d' Altivole, Italy, Elda moved to Canada as a young woman at the age of 21. She took great pride in her Canadian Citizenship. She showed a strong dedication to learning English and her education, even taking night classes to gain the Canadian equivalent of her High School Diploma. Elda and Alessandro originally met in Italy, and made arrangements to marry in Guelph, Ontario, before settling in Toronto to plant their roots and start their family. Her passion for music, the Opera, attending Church, and her family are only a few of the things that encompass who Elda was. Her vibrant sense of humour marked by a sharp wit and infectious laugh will be deeply missed by all who were privileged to have known her. Elda's legacy will live on through all she met, and our lives will never be the same without her presence.

Family and friends are invited to a period of Visitation on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm; and resuming from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main Street South, Brampton. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 66A Main Street South, Brampton. Immediately following the Mass, the family would like to invite guests for a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Peel Art Gallery, 9 Wellington Street East, Brampton, from 11:45am until 2:00pm. A private family interment will take place at Glendale Cemetery.
