Edgar (Ted) Maltby passed away suddenly in his 92nd year on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 with his daughters by his side. Ted was born in Toronto Gore and attended Ebenezer primary school and Ebenezer United Church. For high school Ted had to walk 10 miles to go to Brampton High where he met the love of his life Florence (Flo) Galbraith. Ted and Flo married January 10, 1948 at St Paul’s United Church in Brampton. Ted was always great with numbers so started working as a bookkeeper after high school and worked in accounting until he retired in 1993. During Ted and Flo’s life they were very active at St Paul’s – they joined various groups, were members of the choir and Ted became an Elder. When Ted retired he became more active – helping in the office, assisting the caretaker, coordinated the cash count teams.
Ted was a great sports fan. He followed the Green Bay Packers from the 50s, Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs. He even started watching the Raptors during their championship run. He also enjoyed watching tennis, curling and golf.
When he was able, he loved bowling. He used to bowl with Liz and May. He was proud of his trophy that May & he won. After he stopped bowling and May continued, he used to go to the bowling alley to cheer her on.
After 67 years of marriage Flo passed away in 2015. Ted continued to live in their apartment for a couple of years until he required assistance. He moved to Casa Dolce Casa in 2017 where he was very happy. He participated in the activities and was especially good at bingo.
Ted predeceased by his wife Flo and son Ronald. He will be deeply missed by his children Roger, Gary, Elizabeth and May as well as his grandchildren Keir, Keia, Christopher, Bryon and Robert and his great-grandchildren Chloe, Emma, Tirianna, Emilee, Tyler and Julia.
Donations may be made in lieu of Flowers to Canadian Bible Society or St Paul’s United Church, 30 Main St S, Brampton L6W 2C4.
