Dulcie Daphne Constance (née Ball) Parsons

November 25, 1927 – August 25, 2023

A gracious lady loved by numerous family and friends passed away at the age of 95 on August 25, 2023 at Hospice Vaughan surrounded by her loving family.

Dulcie worked from a young age as a salesperson in Deer Lake, Newfoundland where she enjoyed her church and community life. She moved to Toronto at 23 and remained there the rest of her life. She and her husband Cecil raised a family of three. She attended the old West-End Revival Center, participating in the lady's missionary group where she created many wonderful quilts for those in need.

She worked at various jobs throughout her life, starting on the Black Magic line at Rowntree Mackintosh. She was a part-time bookkeeper at the furniture and appliance store that she and Cecil co-owned with Cal and Bessy Watkins. Her final job was working at Canada Trust as a land registry clerk, retiring at 65.

She supported many friends and family as newcomers to Toronto, opening up the family home to allow them to board with her. She loved to entertain and had many close friends who she enjoyed playing games with; Ena Brathwaite, Cal and Bessy Watkins and Harold and Shirley Brown to name but a few.

She managed three homes for quite a few years. Besides the main Toronto home, she and Cecil had a summer cottage on Fox Island where they spent many summers. They also spent seven winters in Lakeland, Florida where they had a home. There were many special times visiting and vacationing with Dulcie and Cecil by friends and family.

Dulcie’s greatest love was her family. She was predeceased by her loving husband Cecil and will be missed by her loving children, Lloyd Parsons, Cynthia (Joseph Praskey) Parsons and Daniel (Janette) Parsons. She was dearly loved by her seven grandchildren: Sydney (Patrick) Mcgee, Mallory (Daniel) Krausz, Jason (Kristen) Praskey, Ryan Praskey, Bethany Parsons, Mariah Parsons and Daniel Parsons. There are 8 great-grandchildren who will miss her greatly: Rory and Ryder Magee, Quinn and Asher Krausz, Jackson and Dylan Praskey, Austin and Allison Praskey.

She will be missed by many living relatives. Siblings; Grace Critch, Ward (June) Ball, Eleanor Ball and Ivan (Gareen) Ball, sisters and brother-in-law Effie Pope, Evelyn Parsons and Whitfield Roberts. She will be missed by a large circle of nieces, nephews and other relatives in Newfoundland and Toronto along with many special friends from her church and community.

She was predeceased by parents Dulcie and Ward Ball of Deer Lake, Newfoundland, mother and father-in-law Maggie and Maxwell Parsons of Lucious Bight, Newfoundland. Brothers and sister Dempsey, Ralph, Harold Ball and Mona Campbell and sisters and brothers-in-law Eileen Ball, Yvonne Ball, Rowena Ball, Ramona Ball, Rita Colbourne, Bina Roberts, Roy Campbell, Jabez Critch, Layton Parsons and Stan Colbourne.

A special thank you to Eleanor Ball (sister), Cynthia Ball (niece) and Ena Brathwaite for their loving care and support to her and our family in her last days.
