It is with immeasurable sadness that his blended family announces his peaceful passing on the evening of July 27, 2010 at Northridge Long Term Care Centre, Oakville, Ontario. Douglas was predeceased by his first wife Ruth Goodwin (1981) and his second wife Dora Humphreys (2007). He leaves to mourn; his two sisters Lyle Fauteux, Hamilton, Ontario, and Margaret Burdsall, Kingston, Ontario; his children, Anne Harrison, Patricia Ball, Peter Ferguson (Gail), Alex Ferguson (Mary) and his stepchildren Dick Humphreys, deceased (Joan Campbell), Diane Anderson (Alan); his grandchildren, Kim Salonen (David), Jaki Maj (Stephen), Susan Melbourne, deceased (Paul), Lori Ryan (Joe), Stefan (DeeDee), Luke Ferguson, Douglas Ferguson; his step-grandchildren, Paige Begin (Dan), Kirk Anderson, Beth Watters (Russ), Traci O’ttara (Dave) David Humphreys (Janine) and 16 great-grandchildren.
Douglas was a true gentleman and as such positively touched the lives of all he met. He will be very missed by countless family, friends and acquaintances. Special thanks to Dr. Deb Grapko for being his very caring physician. Also special thanks to all the staff at Northridge for their exceptional care during the last 6 months of his life.
There will be a “Celebration of Life” service at St. John’s United Church, 262 Randall Street, Oakville, on Saturday, September 11, at 2 p.m. Dad’s ashes will be placed with Dora in St. John’s Memorial Garden.
