Peacefully at Hamilton General Hospital on Monday April 21, 2014.
Predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Steven and brother Josef. Beloved mother of Gabriela Zygouras (predeceased), Manuela, Christine and Steven. Loved Grandma and Oma to Katherina (Craig), Jeffery, Steven, Mitchell, Keith, Melanie, Stefanie, Bradley, and Robert (predeceased).
Doris was born in Breslau, Germany on September 20, 1936 to Annemarie and Walter Mannig. In 1960, Doris arrived in Canada with only $10 in her pocket. With determination, faith and hard work she built a new life for herself and her family in Brampton. Doris was a long-time employee of Richter’s Delicatessen in Brampton and later, the Zellers store in Centennial Mall. Doris enjoyed spending her time gardening, writing and listening to beautiful music.
A visitation will be held at Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main Street South, Brampton on Friday April 25, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel at 11:00 AM with interment at the Brampton Cemetery on Church Street.
