Doreen Showers

Doreen Showers, 99, of Weston entered into the presence of her Lord, peacefully in the early hours of March 15 at Delmanor residence in Etobicoke.

Doreen, the daughter of John and Maud Stevens; loving wife of the late Kenneth Showers (2009); cherished Mother of Douglas (Shirley), Barbara (Jim Doherty - 2016), and Joanne (Joe Cossu).

Much loved by her grandchildren: Megan (Dan), Seumas (2019), Adrian (Meghan), Daniel and Thomas (Holly).

Adoring great-grandmother to Elias, Leo and Lillian.

She was also loved by step-grandchildren: Matthew (Beth and Clara), Ryan (Elisabeth, Oliver and Carolyn), Rebecca (Mason).

She will be forever loved and remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Doreen was an active member of Pelmo Park and later Weston Park Baptist Churches. She volunteered her time to lead the Explorers, support and lead the Woman’s Mission circle and serve in the Golden Circle Seniors ministry with Ken and many others.

A dedicated wife and mother who loved to bake and share her delicious creations with family, church and neighbours. Who can forget her pies and squares! Doreen’s knitting projects graced so many – especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who enjoyed wearing her sweaters, mittens, toques or cuddled in those warm, soft baby blankets.

We will miss Doreen’s warm spirit and radiant smile passed on to everyone she met.
