Doreen Osselton

Doreen Osselton (nee Jelley) December 13, 1934 at the age of 82 passed away on June 28, 2017 at OTMH Palliative Care surrounded by family after a difficult 3 ½ year battle with multiple myeloma. The disease took her body, but not her spirit, kindness and sense of humour, which remained until the end.
Doreen was the loving wife of Dennis for 62 years and followed him on a journey from Newcastle Upon Tyne UK, to Canada, in order to provide a better life for the family. They made lots of friends as Geordies do, many of whom would become like family. She will forever be in the hearts of her children Stephen and Susan (Graham), and will always be remembered for fostering their different independent spirits and strengths. Doreen was very proud of all of her grandchildren and their accomplishments, Erin (Sean), Caitlin, Lauren (Mike), Dianne, Karen and Jack. And loving GG to Charlotte and Brayden. And not to be forgotten, her special grand dog Oliver.
The family would like to thank close friends of Mam’s, particularly Isabelle (her Saturday afternoon wine companion) for providing friendship and much needed laughter always, and Lyn and Sheenah who would always drop everything to be there to help on a moment’s notice. And thanks to Kim, her PSW, who looked after her every day. And thank you to all of the friends at the Coach and Four who offered companionship, fun, love and support for many long years and especially during this difficult journey.
To Doctor Andrea Lee and Michelle at the Oakville Cancer Clinic… we couldn’t have asked for more nurturing or better care. And to all of the staff and volunteers there, you are all so kind and caring. Thank you to all of the palliative team including Dr. Tarek Kazem and Yolanda Richardson and every nurse and member of staff that helped care for Doreen in her final weeks. We could not have had a better experience under such difficult circumstances. Thank you for everything. Doreen will be joining her best friend Martha who passed away in (2013). They will be waiting for Kostas to come as they did many a day on Georgian Bay.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Doreen’s life will take place at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville. Friends are welcome to visit on Thursday July 6, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Service in the Chapel at 11:30 a.m. A reception at the Coach & Four will follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Oakville Humane Society or the Oakville Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
