Touching on the life of a beauty that forever lives on, 60 years filled with experiences that
brought about holistic transformation. Donna Delceta Wright is a light who was born in
Kingston, Jamaica and for a few years was raised there and then moved to Canada when
she was about 8 years old. A couple years later, she attended Bathurst Heights Secondary
School, now known as John Polanyi Collegiate Institute.
Donna was a being that loved people and left an impression. She had a way of filling a
room's ambience with laughter and her sarcastic responses. Donna had a way of bringing
out the best in people and this was evident in her background in nursing. Attending George
Brown and completing her program to become a registered nurse, she approached the
position with patience and gratitude. With experience in other jobs during her 20s, Donna
expressed a level of discipline by the way she managed money. She was adventurous and
willing to take risks. Donna loved travelling, in particular moments going back to Jamaica,
where she admired and embraced the culture. She enjoyed cooking, sharing traditional
dishes and sharing it within the household. This truly impacted the way her children
embraced their Jamaican roots.
Donna’s legacy lives on as she has instilled values and morals within her children and
grandchildren, reminding them of the power of being fearless, the gift of never stop
dreaming, the importance of showing empathy and always including others. Her six children,
Tasha, Chris, Kevin, Kerima, Kaino and Alana and grandchildren will forever value and
cherish that.
With all her beautiful imperfections, Donna was a vessel that brought connections between
people and life lessons in a unique way. On Sunday December 18, 2022 Donna transitioned
to a place beyond this realm, where peace, joy, love are present.
