Donna Marie Ford

March 4, 1943 - October 4, 2023

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of Donna Marie Ford (nee Hopper) on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

Donna was born on March 4, 1943, in Cookstown, Ontario to her loving parents Albert and Annie (nee Johnston) Hopper.

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Bob of 47 years. A caring and devoted mother to Shelby (Geoff) and Rob (Jen). Proud grandchildren to William, Amelia, Benjamin and Clara. Dear sister to Morris (Karen) Hopper. Predeceased by her sister Helen Hopper. She was a loving aunt, cousin and friend, and will be deeply missed.

Donna was devoted to family beyond measure, a pillar of love and compassion, and an avid animal lover. Giving back to the community was her passion, and she did so tirelessly in many ways. Donna was a member of St. Paul's United Church; a Guide leader; and a volunteer with the Peel Board of Education, the Rose Theatre, and the St. John's Ambulance Therapy Dog Program. Due to her dedication and service over many years, she was awarded the Queen's Jubilee medal, an award given to those who have significantly contributed to the betterment of their community.

A family trailblazer, she loved to travel and went on many memorable trips to Hawaii, Florida, China, France, England and Ireland, and cruises with close friends in the Caribbean and Alaska. She loved being at the cottage in Wasaga Beach, where she could be always found walking the beach with her dogs Katie and Jigs, and hosting dinners, Thanksgivings and get-togethers with family and friends.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for Donna at the Brampton Civic Hospital, for their dedication and compassionate care.

As we mourn her loss, her memory remains a guiding light. A funeral service will take place at St. Paul's United Church on Saturday, October 21, 2023, with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. and a service starting at 11:00 a.m. A reception to follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Ambulance – Brampton and St. Paul's United Church in Donna's memory.
