Donald Traynor

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Donald Edward Traynor at the age of 84 on April 22, 2021. Don passed away at home while caring for his wife, Olivia who is battling cancer.

Don was husband to Olivia ne. (Castella). Son to George and Eva ne. (Jarvis) predeceased. The last of 12 siblings. Father to Susan, Bruce (Susan)and Don predeceased,Reggie predeceased, Kimberly (Marshall),Troy and Jennifer. Grandfather to Melissa, Shane, Brittany, Nathaniel,Noah, Megan, Hailey (Anderson), Ella and Brody. Great grandfather to Josh, Irys, Lorin and Talia. Not to mention the many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

Don was born and raised in the Huntsville area. Don met his first wife Barb in Oak Ridges where they raised 3 children. He enjoyed camping and canoeing through the Algonquin with the “boys”. He later moved to Brampton where he met and married his second wife Olivia and continued to raise his extended family. There Don and Olivia spent many years involved in the Brampton softball community where he made many life long friends.Don loved the outdoors and spent many special times ice fishing and moose hunting with his extended family and friends. An avid sports fan Don loved the Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs. You would see him in front of the T.V. on many a Saturday night. As a young man Don worked for the Asbestos workers union later known as the International Association of Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers, local 95. Retiring at 65 Don was soon back on the job for several more years before leaving Four Jewels Insulation Ltd.

Don was a loving family man to an ever growing family, often putting their needs before his own. If you knew him, then you know exactly how lucky you were to have him in your life. Some referred to him as a gentle giant who could fix their problems with a loving hug. He was a calm and patient man which was a great benefit when teaching so many of us how to ride a bike or drive a car. There are no words to express the loss of this patriarchal force within our family. He will be greatly missed by all of us. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to charities within the Brampton community.

Respecting the current situation and pandemic restrictions, the funeral services will be private. Cremation has taken place.

We thank you for your understanding and encourage you to provide your condolences to the family through her/his memorial page.
