Donald Robertson

Donald was born in Toronto on May 14th, 1930 and passed away on March 9th, 2016 and will be sadly miss by family and friends. Pre-deceased by his parents Henry and Luella (nee Snell) Robertson and by his sister Mary Mackey.
Don married his loving wife Janice Harrison Jones on June 4th, 1955 and has happily been married for 60 years, and have had three beautiful children, Julie (deceased 2009), Tim (Kim) and Andrew (Linda). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Warren, Jenna, Kyle and Jessica and nephews Geoffrey, Rod, and Greg Mackey.
Don was the long-time owner of Don Robertson Chrysler-Dodge located on Queen St. in Brampton. Don started his career at Thorncrest Ford in Toronto, after several years he ventured out on his own and in 1964 he was awarded a Chrysler franchise and was given the choice between Newmarket and Brampton, he chose wisely and was able to grow his business in one of Canada’s fastest growing communities for many years.
After some health issues in the early ‘90’s he decided it was best to sell the successful business. Don loved to travel and he and Janice would travel to see most of the world including 25 cruises.
Don was a long-time member of the Brampton South Rotary Club as well as the Probus Club. Donald and Janice enjoyed more than 45 years of cottaging in Muskoka including the last 40 years on The Lake of Bays.
Family was very important and he loved to have everyone around during the summers to take them for his famous “boat ride” in one of his boats. He had a keen interest in Antique wooden boats and he bought and sold quite a few. Don and Janice spent 25 winters at their home in Naples, Florida and made many friends there.
About 10 years ago the Diagnosis came that would change all of our lives.
Don’s last 4 years were spent at Leisure world/Maple Grove in Brampton and the family would like to thank all the nurses and staff that supported Dad during this time.
Cremation has taken place and a small family service will be held at a later date.
