Dominic Parente

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our father, Dominic Anthony Parente, at the age of 82, at home in the loving arms of his family on November 21, 2021 following a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born in Boiano, Italy, he was the adored son of the late Antonio and Clorinda Parente. Beloved brother (“Teto”) of Lina DiPietro (Mario) and the late Maria Niro. Cherished partner of Laura Gordon. Loving father of Annemarie (Greg Manion), Anthony (Marta Siekanowicz) and Peter (Voula).

Treasured Nonno of Marc-Anthony, Julianna, Aiden, Matthew, Sophia, and Gabriella. Dominic shared his love for his children and grandchildren with their mother and grandmother, Rosalie Parente.

Remembered fondly by daughter-in-law Karen Parente. Beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Dominic was a well-loved member of both the Etobicoke and Brampton communities. As a lifelong barber, his skills with scissors and a comb were unrivaled, and he carefully tended to the needs of his wonderful clients from his early twenties right up until his death. He was well loved by his clients, many of whom were loyal to him for decades. A self-proclaimed golf nut, our father spent many hours on the fairways at Glencairn Golf Club with his cherished golf friends, Les, Leroy, and Ken. While his passion for the game of golf was unwavering, our father loved nothing more than to spend time with his family. No matter where he was, nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his children and grandchildren. A man “of few words, but much wisdom,” he preferred to listen carefully to what others had to say. A very intelligent man, and an incredibly hard worker, there was nothing he couldn’t build or fix, no problem he could not solve . A handsome man, his gorgeous eyes, white beard, youthful face and colourful fashion sense meant that he turned heads. A lover of music, fitness, Monopoly, cashews, shrimp, and homemade apple pie, our father delighted in the simple things in life.

In his final months, our father met the challenges of a devastating cancer diagnosis with courage, strength, determination and grace. So strong was he in his battle that his grandchildren nicknamed him The Beast. In spite of the challenges that presented themselves, he never complained once, choosing to fight instead with dignity, and quiet strength.

We have lost a great man. We have lost a beautiful man.

Friends and family will be received at Ward Funeral Home, Brampton Chapel on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm and 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Etobicoke on Thursday, November 25 at 11:00 am, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8300 Yonge Street.

Our thanks to Doctors Saltman, Hosni, Brierly, Krzyzanowska and Ma, as well as Nurse Sonya Witz at Princess Margaret Hospital for their exceptional, compassionate care of our father. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Go now, Dad. Your work here is done. We will miss you, but we know you are at peace. Love you so so much.
