LEONE, Domenico – After 100 years of a life well lived, Domenico Leone passed away peacefully on Monday November 28, 2022 at West Park Long Term Care Centre, Toronto. Dear brother, predeceased by his siblings Theresa (late Frank) Carino, Phylis (late Bert) Mowbray, Joseph (late Theresa) Leone, Mary (late Jack) Stewart, infants Dominica and John. Beloved Uncle of Joanna (late Simeon) Prodanos, Rick (Marie) Stewart, Mary Ann (Graham) Everdell, Alida (Bill) Grant, Ron (Sharon) Stewart, and Nicholas Leone. Uncle Dom, as he was affectionately known, will be dearly missed by Cathy (Paul) Kennedy, Chris (Alby) Prodanos, Paul (Catherine) Stewart, Wendie de Bruyn, James Stewart, Catherine Grant, Michael (Toni) Grant, and many other family members and friends.
Domenico was born in Canada on November 8, 1922. He was conscripted into the Canadian Army in November 1942 and he was stationed in Sydney Nova Scotia until he was discharged on April 11, 1946. Domenico played semi-professional baseball and he worked as a lead hand at the Crothers Caterpillar Company for more than 30 years.
Domenico was a very generous, caring and compassionate person who was always willing to help his family and friends. He was very involved with the St. Joseph’s Parish and he always spoke fondly of his friends at the St. Joseph’s Senior Citizens Apartments.
Domenico loved a good bowl of pasta, hot peppers and chocolate. He enjoyed the Horse Races, playing Bingo, and he could occasionally be found at a Craps Table at Casino Rama or in Las Vegas. He was very independent and a little stubborn, which is likely why he lived over 100 years!
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, “Weston Chapel”, 2035 Weston Road (north of Lawrence Avenue West), Weston, on Monday December 5, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
