Dofney Nezereene Lee, 81, resident of 10 Knightsbridge rd Apt 605, passed away, June 6,2013 at Brampton Civic Hospital from Heart Failure.She was born in Lawrence Tavern, Jamaica, August 5th, 1931 the Daughter Maude Virginia Hawks. Dofney attended and Oberlin High School, Jamaica and Graduated in 1948. She would later attend and Graduate from George Brown, College, Toronto in 1975 with a certification is nursing.Before coming to Canada in 1969, Dofney lived a full life as a mother to sons; Leford Farquharson and Derrick Deslandes. As well as a career woman when she owned and operated her own restaurant and bar in Kingston Jamaica. Her restaurant was a place where locals would come for a home cooked meal, a shot and rum and warm conversation with “Aunty” as her patrons would call her; until she packed up and headed to north to a new beginning. After arriving in Canada Dofney started working at Cooper-Buxton Canada as a Seamstress making jerseys and Hockey gear, the money wasn’t great but it helped to go back to school as well as to toughen her up for the road ahead. After leaving Cooper- Buxton is 1972, she started working at Corning Canada as a decal Painter, which sparked her interest in making ceramics. When she wasn’t at Corning paintings ceramic she was working as a Nurses Aid on the weekends and a Ceramic crafter at nights. Although there are 24 hours in the day she still found time to juggle 3 careers, going to church, and going out with her lodge sisters. After Early retirement in 1990 due to a back injury at Corning, dofney reprised her role as Care-giver and Mother, helping her son Leford to raise his youngest daughter Rasheika, who Dofney gave the Nickname, Pumpkin as she was sweet like pumpkin pie with the brown complexion to match. The Pair were inseparable, where there was a Dofney , Rasheika was not far behind. She was survived by her Brother Donald Roberts; son Leford Farquharson, niece Madge Daley; Grandchildren Lorraine Farquharson, Karen Farquharson, Lance Dale Farquharson, Rasheika Farquharson, Annique Deslandes, Tiffany Deslandes, Christopher Deslandes Negosh Deslandes; and her beloved extended FamilyA memorial service will be held Saturday June 22nd, 2013” at 11:00 am and at Ward Funeral Home In Brampton, Located at 52 Main St S and will Be laid to rest at 3:00 pm at 7732 Mavis Road Brampton
