David Buller

BULLER, David - Born in Scotland 1937 - Died in Brampton 2009 Passed away at home with his family by his side on November 24, 2009 after living courageousIy with mesothelioma. David was an incredible husband to Isabel and an outstanding father and role model to daughters Lesley and Ann and son Douglas. Born in Scotland, David brought his family to Canada in 1968. A master carpenter, his work is in hundreds of buildings. From a church on the Six Nations Reserve, re-built after a brutal fire, homes restored for families who thought they had lost everything, corporate towers and high rises; David treated every job with the same commitment to quality and attention to detail. David loved soccer and used the sport to change many lives. An excellent coach, he won many trophies, but it was always the character on the field that counted most. He taught boys how to be men and men how to respect themselves and others. Former players never knew that he often paid their entrance fee, or managed to ensure they had a new pair of boots on their feet. If you were ever in trouble, you would be fortunate if David were there. He was a good man with a great heart, integrity and honour. He never passed by someone he could help. He aIways had a joke and a smile for all he met. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral. Cremation has already occurred. Friends and family will meet on Saturday, November 28th, from 2-4 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main Street South, Brampton to share stories and raise a glass of David's favourite drink, tea. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the David and Isabel Scholarship at Centennial College or the charity of your choice. We wish to thank all of David's outstanding caregivers, especially Dr. Kuruvilla, Amanda, Pat and Leora, whose incredible compassion and caring made all the difference in our lives during a difficult time. The family also appreciates the longtime support of Dr. McCallion. David's book of memories may be signed at www.wardfuneralhome.com
