DANIEL JOSEPH McCORMICK After a courageous three year battle with cancer, he went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 26, 2009. Born in French Road, Cape Breton, NS May 11, 1925 he was the youngest of five and the only son of Alan and Rachel McCormick. Predeceased by his parents and eldest sister Margaret (2009). Also predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret (nee Bell) to whom he was married for 35 years and who he so lovingly cared for during her illness. He has left a huge void in the worlds of those he left behind: his daughters Linda Willoughby (Bruce 2006), Pattie McLaren (Iain) and his soul mate and sweetheart for the past 17 years, Eva Pilson. His sisters Sally Johnson, Kaye MacDougall and MaryJane MacMullen will mourn their baby brother as will Kay Gallagher, Irene Bell and James Nixon their brother-in- law. Grandpa will be greatly missed by grandchildren April, Alan, Sherry, Scott and Joe as well as great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He will also be deeply missed by Eva's children Linda Battaglian (Alfredo) and Charlie (Linda) as well as her grandchildren Marco, Tanya and Tyler and was looking forward to a new addition in 2010. He was Uncle Dan to scores of nieces and nephews across the country who will each have some special memory of him. He was a presence wherever he went, with a wonderful sense of humour who gave great service to his family, his church, the Knights of Columbus and anyone else who needed anything at all. The world will be a sadder, quieter place without him in it. Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd. (north of Lawrence Ave. W.), Weston on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 811 Lawrence Ave. W., on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Odette Cancer Centre - Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre would be appreciated. A Book of Memories may be signed at www.wardfuneralhome.com
