Smith, Clarence Edward “Junior”

 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce that Clarence Edward “Jr” Smith, 57, of Toronto Ontario, passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie Ontario, on November 15, 2024. Born in Halifax, NS, on April 10, 1967, Jr. was the son of the late Helen Yvonne (Francis) Smith. Jr. spent a great deal of his youth in Digby, a place dear to his heart, before the family moved back to Ontario.

Jr. was creative and enjoyed working in nature for landscaping companies to beautify commercial and residential spaces. He also painted for several construction firms in Ontario. In his spare time Jr., could be found on a basketball court demonstrating a few skills and his knowledge of the game, or watching his favorite team compete for their spot in the finals. He LOVED the sport of basketball. 

Jr. is survived by his beautiful daughter Ashley Robinson (Maselle Beals) and also grandchild Natalia Robinson, who he loved dearly. He is also survived by brothers; Clifford “Troy” of Yarmouth NS and Sheldon (Debbie) of Toronto Ont.; nieces and nephews Chantell Smith and Trevor Smith,  his sister kids who Jr. thought of as his grandchildren, Denaysha Smith, Felecia Jones, Teo Smith, Tianna Smith and several nieces and nephews. 

Jr. was predeceased by brothers: Larry, Tracey, Kevin “Tony”; sisters: Beverly “Denny”, two sisters in infancy; grandparents; Clifford and Ruth (Butler) Francis of Digby. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date, in Digby NS.
