Charlotte Jane Silman, November 16, 2024, in her 96th year, at home, with family.
Predeceased by her husband, Ernie Silman Sr.; daughter Connie Mallon; son Charles (Chuck) and brother, Edward.
Survived by son Ernie Silman, Jr. (Irene), daughters Chris Fisher (Ian) and Marie Duke (James.) son-in-law Al Mollison and sister (Twinkie) Margaret Eileen O'Brien.
Grandmother of Vicki, Sarah, Candelle, Olivea, Samantha, Roy, Sherrie and Russell; Great grandmother of Alexandra, Jacob, Ryan, Luke, Darius and R.J.
Charlotte led a full rich life. She captained her own ship with devoted love, care and consideration to her family (the crew).
She met Ernie, her soon to be loving husband in 1948 and they were married a year later. Charlotte devoted her life to her family and blended it well with an additional 13 foster children. Her original Shaw Business School Diploma from the 1940s led her to a career in administration management and eventually, due only to an unfortunate accident at age 81, retirement from a family medical practice.
Any free time was spent volunteering wherever Char was needed in the community, always with others' well being in mind. Her contributions included blood donations, probation officer, horse walker for Community Association for Riders with Disabilities (CARD), counsellor at a camp for adults with Cerebral Palsy.
High spirited, quick witted and just as quick to make new friends, she remained continuously active over a life time. She clogged, line and belly danced, swam, cross country skied, cycled, hiked, skated, gardened, cut her grass into her 80s and as recent as 2022 occasionally still shoveled her driveway when a snowy night and the spirit moved her. She studied astrology at Seneca College and at 90 became the oldest client the tattoo shop had ever inked when she got herself a crescent moon above her ankle.
The life of every party, there was always a place at her table for unexpected guests.
Above all, Char loved being Ernie's wife, a mother and a homemaker. Her greatest joy was her family and despite her busy life, her children always came first.
