Mocon Catherine (nee Rozicki)

Peacefully, passed away at her residence on Thursday, June 15, 2023. Catherine was in her 99th. year. Beloved wife of the late James (November 2001). Cherished mother of Shirley Murray (Bill), Diane Papatzikakis (Thomas), and Jim (Luisa). Loving grandmother of Mark-Ryan, Kevin, Michael, Christopher, Daniel, Jimmy, Stephen and Jessica. Lovingly remembered by great-grandchildren Aria, Carter, Presley, Irwyn, Cade and Jack. Catherine was born in Sydney Nova Scotia on November 7, 1924. She worked in Nova Scotia at a steel plant tending the coke ovens. At age 20 she moved to Toronto where she took a job working for Eaton’s. In 1950 in Toronto, she married James Mocon and they decided to move to Cooksville where they started their family. Their first child Shirley (1954), Diane (1955), and James in (1959). For many years Catherine worked outdoors tending to the fields and crops, she helped build the greenhouses for the horticulture industry. In 1987 the family moved to a new property in Brampton where she continued to work up until her retirement. The family will receive friends at the Ward Funeral Home (Brampton Chapel) on Sunday, June 18, 2023 from 4-8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held from St. Jerome Catholic Church 8530 Chinguacousy Road, Brampton on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Parklawn cemetery.
