Catherine Nellie McInnes Obituary
Catherine Nellie McInnes (nee Langfield/Carter), 94, passed away April 27, 2021 at Sunnybrook Palliative Care Unit in Toronto, Ontario. Catherine was a devoted Salvationist and had a passionate faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a shy, personable woman who liked speaking with people on an individual basis. Despite life’s challenges, Catherine’s faith never waivered.
Catherine was born in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa to Salvation Army Officers, Lt. Col. Herbert George Carter, and Mrs. Hannah Catherine Carter (nee Ramsdale) on December 31, 1926. Catherine was the youngest sibling to two brothers, John Ramsdale Carter (deceased 2004), and Carlton Herbert Carter (deceased 2017). She has many happy memories of her childhood and frequently spoke of ‘Dear Mom and Dear Dad’.
Catherine was married to the late Major Allan Gerald McInnes (Gerald), on November 1, 1994 and settled in Langley BC, Ottawa and finally Toronto at the Meighen Residence and Manor. Catherine was predeceased by the ‘love of her life’ Gerald, in 2017.
Catherine will be dearly missed by her loving children Ruth (Lorne) Kearnan, Dawn Langfield, and Vic (Susanna) Langfield, along with her three adoring grandchildren, Jaime and Mackenzie Kearnan and Amanda Langfield.
Catherine is also survived by her loving stepchildren Kevin (Deborah) McInnes, and Carolyn (Fred) Brake, daughter-in-law Janet McInnes, along with her grandchildren Shawna Rose (David) Miller, Christa (Rob) Unruh, Lindsay (Abe) Dyck, Adam (Jen) McInnes, Alexander (Chandel) McInnes, Amanda Brake and Allan (Janelle) Brake.
