Cathy was an extremely loving and supportive mother, sister,aunt and friend. Her faith and the Roman Catholic Church meant everything to Cathy. One of the most wonderful things about her was that even though she was steadfast in her beliefs she practiced a nonjudgmental mindset and accepted everyone even when their beliefs were not her own.
Cathy was courageous and as one of her nurses said, "She was one tough cookie." Right to the end she was someone who never looked at her circumstances in a negative way, she was content and happy with so very little. The final conversation she had with her doctor, while on the maximum of oxygen a person can be on, showed how she looked at life;
Doctor Jailal - Cathy how is your breathing?
Cathy - Oh not bad.
Doctor Jailal - Cathy are you in any pain?
Cathy - No not right now.
Doctor Jailal - (looking at me to the left) Do you know the fella on your left?
Cathy - (she said with a smile and sarcastic tone) I think I have seen him once or twice.
Thank you mom for everything you have given me, I never felt at need even though you had very little, thank you for supporting all of my decisions (even when some were obviously not too intelligent ;) and thank you for providing me with an incredible example of how you can be happy and positive no matter your life's circumstances.
Like many others I have talked to over the last week I will miss her greatly.
Love,
Jeff
