Catharina (Tina) Vandenberg, born to Piet Vandenberg and Hendrika Vandenberg Vander Wel on December 15, 1926, fell asleep in the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on January 27, 2023. With quiet but firm faith she longed for her eternal home and rest from her earthly burdens. “After [she] suffered a little while, the God of all grace … called [her] to his eternal glory in Christ” (1 Peter 5:10). Tina’s earthly journey took her from The Netherlands, to Winnipeg, and Toronto, where she became the proud owner of a home in Scarborough. In retirement she moved to Providence Tower (Holland Christian Home) and from there to Grace Manor (310 South), her last earthly home. Tina deeply appreciated the dutiful and tender care of the staff. The staff regularly noted Tina’s patience: “She never complains.”
Tina (Tante Tinie to her nephews and nieces) is lovingly remembered by a cloud of witnesses: sister Ria and brother-in-law Bill Knibbe (Colorado Springs), nephews and nieces from Edmonton, Winnipeg, Mansfield (Arkansas), Seattle, Arlington, Goldbar, Lynnwood (all in Washington), Grand Rapids, The Netherlands, and many friends at Holland Christian Home.
Catharina Vandenberg’s earthly remains will be committed to the ground from which God formed her at 10 a.m. on February 10, 2023, at Meadowvale Cemetery. Officiant: Rev. Richard Bodini, pastor of Grace Mansion. The burial will be followed by a service of praise and thanksgiving at Horizon Hall, Holland Christian Home, at 11:30 a.m. To be followed by fellowship and refreshments.
