Caterina "Cathy" Padovan

August 14, 1966 - March 22, 2025

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Caterina “Cathy” Padovan (née Virdo). Cathy passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family at the age of 58, on Saturday, March 22, 2025. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend.

Cathy will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 31 years, Walter, and the loves of her life, her daughters Sara and Lily. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Nancy, sister Lena, brother Sam (Luci), in-laws Marilena (Joe), Angie and Robert, nieces and nephews Eric (Lore), Natalie, Matthew (Ellisha), Erica, great-niece Emma and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Cathy is now reunited with her beloved father Gaetano Virdo, in-laws Giovanni and Luigia Padovan, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and pets.

Cathy was a blessing to everyone she met, lighting up any room she was in with her infectious laugh and wonderful sense of humour. We all have positive memories of Cathy, from getting a ride to school listening to Stevie B, getting ready to go clubbing and using way too much hairspray, or getting competitive playing board games at family gatherings.

Cathy was passionate about her career and dedicated to her work at Brampton Transit. Even on difficult days, she engaged in her work with a positive attitude.

Cathy fought bravely against lung cancer for 15 years, courageously participating in new tests, clinical trials, and treatments to contribute to cancer research allowing doctors to deeply understand the complexities of this condition and develop new treatments.

Cathy’s legacy will carry on through her daughters, and her love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of all those who came to know her.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
