Carol Ann Giles
January 1, 1951 – May 3, 2013
Died peacefully in her sleep after a long and courageous fight with Cancer and Alzheimer’s at The Village of Humber Heights in Etobicoke.
Loving wife of Ken Acheson; devoted sister of Jim Lashkevich (Wendy) of Chilliwack B.C. and Larry Lashkevich (Karen) of Ottawa; favourite niece of Reney Olsen (Bob) of Virginia USA. Carol will also be missed by the many members of her extended family and her many friends.
Carol enjoyed a long and successful business career with Kraft Canada where she had many happy experiences with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
Carol was a fierce competitor whether playing golf (member of Weston Golf and Country Club) with her friends or taking on all comers at Cribbage (her favourite card game). Carol was affectionately known to many as “The Energizer Bunny” for her desire to “Let’s Go!” long after others ran out of steam. She loved life and until the end gave her best effort to everything she did.
We thank the staff at The Village of Humber Heights for making Carol’s last years as pleasant as possible and it is clear that she made many friends there with a winning smile that lasted until the end. We cannot adequately express our gratitude to her devoted special friends (Sylvia, Maritza, Rosa, Arlene and Naz) who cared for Carol in the most loving and supportive way anyone could imagine. They made her daily life enjoyable to the end! Special thanks to her long time friend, Deborah Dexter, for her continued caring and support.
Friends will be received at Ward Funeral Home 2035 Weston Rd, (North of Lawrence Ave. W) Weston on Friday May 10, 2013 from 10:30 a.m. – 1p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 1:15 pm.
A Celebration of Carol’s life will take place at The Weston Golf and Country Club on June 14, 2013 from 2 to 5PM. This will be a time to raise a glass in remembrance of her love of life.
Donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Society in her memory in the hope that this horrific disease can some day be stopped.
