In Loving Memory of Carol Esther Highgate
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Esther Highgate, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who peacefully left this world at the age of 93 on December 10, 2023.
Born in Peterborough, Ontario on April 9, 1930 to the late Henry Borland and Lavina Shearer, Esther lived a life rich in love, friendship and grace. She was thoughtful, kind and resilient, touching the lives of all who knew her.
A devoted wife, Esther shared 47 years of marriage with Kenneth Aaron Highgate, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and enduring commitment.
Esther is survived by her children: Janet, Wayne (Lucy), and Paul (Suzanne); grandchildren: Brian, James (Melissa), Andrew (Stacey), Jacob and Sonia; and great-grandchildren: Zephaniah, Reuben and Rita-Fae. She leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity that will resonate through generations.
Esther approached life with an unwavering faith. Her resilience in the face of challenges made her a source of inspiration for all who knew her. Offering much love and support to her family and friends, she believed in the power of kindness, community, and the importance of cherishing every moment.
Her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched. As we mourn her physical absence, we celebrate the beautiful life Esther lived and the love she gave so generously.
.Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home on Wednesday December 20, 2023 from 12:00 Noon until a time of service in the Ward Funeral Home chapel beginning at 1:00 p.m.
