With much sadness and heavy hearts, our cherished mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, Zia and devoted friend, Carmela Sellan, passed away on Saturday December 4, 2021 at the age of 90.

Carmela arrived in Halifax from Pordenone Italy in October 1953 to begin her life in Canada. She married her late husband Elio just weeks after her arrival.

She was the cherished mother of Lucy (Wayne) Moore, the late Renato (Barbara) and Adriano.

She was a proud and doting Nonna to Lisa, Emily and Christopher and great grandmother to Courtney and Kayla. Caring, spoiling and enjoying the company of her grandchildren brought her immense joy.

She was a seamstress extraordinaire who created beautiful and professional articles of clothing for so many. Sewing was her passion, only second to caring for her family. She also spent many hours carefully tending to her garden, growing her favourite vegetables, and her famous fresh salatina.

We will all miss the love and devotion she surrounded us with, and will cherish the memories of the special family moments she made possible. Her remaining family in Italy and Australia will also miss her tremendously.
