MARTINI, Carlo---Passed away in his 84th year on March 15, 2011 at Humber River Hospital with his beloved wife of 59 years, Silvia, by his side. He is survived by his dear children, Carla Marchetti (Sergio) and Franco (Bina), his granddaughters Christine (Jason), Laura (Matthew), Jessica, Jennifer, and Ashley, by his great-grandchildren Andrew and Charlie and siblings Pierino and Pierina. Carlo was born in Revo, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy. He was a partisan in WWII and later went on to serve in the Alpini. He immigrated to Canada in 1953 to make a better life for his family. Carlo worked in construction on major projects that helped to build the city of Toronto. He was fiercely proud to become a Canadian citizen. Carlo had a quick wit and a fantastic sense of humour; he weaved a great story, was always ready with a joke or a rhyme, could be counted on for sage advice and he was a master cook. A life-long soccer enthusiast, he had a hearty laugh that will be greatly missed. His family is forever grateful for the brave and driven spirit that brought him to Canada and for the beautiful life he created here in the face of many challenges. You will be always in our hearts Marito, Papa, Nonno, Bisnonno. Thanks to the kind staff of the ICU.
