Carla Veeber (nee Brobst), of Mississauga, peacefully passed away on February 27, 2022 in her home, surrounded by loved ones.
Carla was born on April 29, 1962 to Kay and Bob Brobst in Toronto.
She met Peter Veeber on a blind date through friends and were married on September 7, 1991. Carla described it as the happiest day of her life. They celebrated their 30th anniversary this past September while Carla was in hospital. Their son, Christopher Veeber, was born in 1995. Carla was a loving mother to Chris and very proud of his accomplishments.
Carla was predeceased by both her parents and survived by her sisters Brenda Axon (George) and Silver Klajnscek (Les) as well as her nieces, Natalie (Linus), Kayleigh (Kevin), Yulia and nephews, John, Evan, Aidan, Oliver, great nephews Emerson and Ethan, and newborn great niece Zoey.
After high school, Carla attended Mohawk College. Carla was very pleased to have worked at CIBC in their processing/distribution centre in Mississauga for close to 30 years. She was very disappointed at having to stop working in August.
Carla was an active member of Beverley Hills United Church and sang in the choir. She continued to attend monthly lunches with this truly supportive community of friends.
Carla enjoyed many hobbies, including bike riding, lego, golf, knitting and cooking. Her favourite was making pies for Thanksgiving. She always insisted on using real pumpkins to make her pumpkin pies. She made excellent salsa, baked bread and birthday cakes, and loved to make lasagna. She often went with Chris and Peter to the movies. They really enjoyed visiting the Ontario Science Centre and many other science centres in Ontario and beyond.
The Veebers were very involved with Steam Era in Milton and she volunteered to run the steamed corn booth at their annual festival. Every year, Carla and her family spent one weekend camping at the Estonian Camp. Carla supported Chris by attending Comicon and Anime North with him. Carla, Peter and Christopher always loved to go to the cottage and this past summer was no exception.
She will be truly missed.
