BELLINI, Bruno
With broken hearts, the family of Bruno Bellini announce his passing on December 18, 2022, at the Brampton Civic Hospital after a brief illness in his 88th year. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gina (Cherubini) and children Judy (Rob Ferguson) and Andrew (Jennifer Hamilton), and his sisters Neda Zega of Sudbury, Lena and Bruna of Timmins as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his five grandchildren, of whom he was incredibly proud Kate, Ally, Robert, Jonathan, and Jacob. He was a hands-on Nono who was always there to help raise his grandchildren; they will miss him. He was predeceased by his parents, Mario and Guilia, his brother Raymond, his sister Rose, and sister-in-law Norma Valvasori of Grimsby.
Bruno was the son of Italian immigrants and was raised on a dairy farm in Timmins, ON. After high school, he went to an Electrical Trade school in Toronto. He returned to Timmins to work at Hall Electric and eventually at Kam Kotia Mines. He later joined the local IBEW union working on new construction projects, and ended his career as a contractor supervisor for Kidd Creek Mines. Bruno was the man to call when people needed electrical work done in their homes.
After retirement, he became one of the directors of the Porcupine Dante Club. He thought of the Dante Club as his own and was often there making sure things ran smoothly. He belonged to the Bocce club and regularly attended the Montessori Curling Bonspiels. Bruno loved keeping busy, making wine, and gardening. He enjoyed travelling with his family to resorts and Europe. Bruno’s favourite thing was being with old friends and meeting new people.
In June, Bruno and Gina moved to an Italian Retirement community in Bolton to be closer to family. We want to thank everyone at Sorrento for their kindness and for making our dad so happy and welcome. We would also like to thank the staff, nurses, and doctors of Brampton civic hospital for their compassion and care.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Ward Funeral Home Brampton. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 28th from 9:30 A.M. - 11:00 A.M., followed by a service at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel. Reception will be held approximately between 12:00 P.M. - 1:30 P.M. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 15 (a map will be available).
In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.
