Bruce Petrie

Bruce Bartlett Petrie (December 12, 1920 - February 21, 2017)

After a short battle with heart failure, Bruce had a peaceful passing at the Oakville hospital, with family beside him. After a life’s journey lasting 96 years, Bruce was the last of his own family to pass on, his parents and his seven brothers and sisters predeceasing him.

He was also predeceased by his cherished wife, Mary, in 2013, after a happy marriage lasting 62 years, and was dearly loved by his devoted children, Gordon (Peggy) Petrie, Donna (Robert) Kirk, Karen (Brian) Romeril, Sandra (John) Muir, and Scott Petrie, as well as his grandchildren, Alana Petrie (Nathan Bourgeault), Lisa (Martin) Landry, and Adam Romeril. Bruce will also be greatly missed by his cousins Joan Bartlett, Phyllis Taylor, and Franklin (Peggy) Petrie, brothers-in-law, Hillary Russell and Bert Foote, sisters-in-law, Neta Petrie, Ella Foss and Vera Foote, many loving nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

Bruce was a WWII veteran, in service to his country for five years during that conflict. He was an Oakville resident for 62 years, and a long-standing member of Knox 16 Presbyterian Church in Oakville.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Knox 16 Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
