Bruce Jeffrey

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of (Donald) Bruce Jeffrey on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the age of 73. Bruce died peacefully at Peel Manor Long Term Care Centre after a very long and arduous battle with diabetes. Neither the loss of his legs, nor his painful dialysis regime could break his wonderful and boisterous spirit. Bruce remained happy and full of life until his very last breath.

Born in Toronto, Bruce was the son of the late Harry and Yvonne (Darrell) Jeffrey, predeceased by his brother Darrell.

Bruce worked as a Justice of the Peace for the Province of Ontario for 35 years before retiring at the age of 55. However, his love of the court system didn’t stop with retirement. He became a Paralegal for the next 10 years and practiced law from the other side of the bench.

Bruce enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and travelling. He was an extremely outgoing and social character who lived life to the fullest. Bruce always had a very active social life – he truly was the life of the party. Because of his passion for life and great charisma, he developed so many wonderful friendships throughout the years. Sadly, many of the friends he met during his years as a Justice of the Peace passed before him.

The loss of his friends from his working years didn’t stop Bruce from forging new bonds and relationships with the many great people in his trailer park. He was like a powerful magnet that had the ability to draw only the best natured towards him. This love for the trailer, and his many great friendships kept him going these past 11 years. His friends became a part of his family and he loved them all dearly. Bruce touched the hearts of so many. He will certainly be remembered often and with warmth.

Bruce will be forever missed by his greatest love, his wife, Mary (Kennedy) Jeffrey. Not a day has gone by for the past 37 years that he has not professed his love to her. He was a passionate man who took pride in making sure that those he loved most were aware of it. Bruce was a loving father and will sadly be missed by his children; Frank (Jessy), Michelle, Christine (Leonard), Robert (Sarah), and tragically predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer. He was a wonderful grandfather (Bumpa) and will forever be in the hearts of his grandchildren; Katrina, Daniella, Zachary, Emma, Sara and Nicholas.
