Bill Adams

Bill "William" Edward John Adams son of Hannah Adams (nee Pring) and William John Adams passed away May 12, 2010 in his 68th year. He is survived by his wife Marion, son Nicholas, 24, daughter Rachel, 21, and his brother Michael John Adams. Bill was born at home, in West Ham, London, England, November 8th, 1942. A child of wartime, he was evacuated, along with his Mother, during the bombing of London, to Weybridge, England, until the end of the blitz. Upon completion of his education, he was employed by Lloyds of London Insurance for several years. In 1970 he joined his brother Michael in Bermuda, where they both worked at the Bank of Bermuda. Six years later he emigrated to Toronto, Canada, where he was employed by the Royal Bank of Canada in their International Foreign Exchange Trading Department. It was here in 1978, that he met his future wife Marion Ovenden. In 1980, Bill was transferred to Montreal as the Chief Trader for the Royal Bank Trading Room. Having completed his assignment there, he was transferred back to the Trading Room in Toronto, where he worked in the Systems Department developing a computer application for the Trading Room. This job sent him to London, England, Ireland and New York. Bill and Marion were married in 1984 in Toronto, where they lived together with their children Rachel and Nicholas (Nick). For many years Bill was an avid collector of British and Bermudian stamps and coins which resulted in an impressive collection. His dream to one day own a cottage by the water came true in 2002, when the family purchased a waterfront cottage on Lake Mazinaw, Ontario. He retired at age 55 and spent a good portion of his summers at the cottage, where he enjoyed renovating, playing on his computer and kayaking. Bill was very proud of his children, whom he loved with all his heart.
Bill was very devoted to his mother, Hannah Adams, and spent countless hours caring for her until her recent passing on March 31, 2010 in her 99th year. Condolences will be greatly received by the family for Hannah, Mother and Grandmother at the same time.
