Betty Joan Myers (nee Flewelling)

Betty Joan Myers (nee Flewelling) passed away at 85 years after a life lived fully and with much love. She will be missed dearly by her children Trudy (Peter), Cindy, and Jamie (Lynne), her grandchildren Miranda, Jonathan, Eliot and Mac, along with cousin Sara, Uncle Jim, and so many dear family members and friends. She faced health challenges spanning many years with such bravery, never losing her sense of humour. Now, she is at peace with her Lord.

In looking back and talking about her life with us these past few years, mom mentioned on many occasions how much she enjoyed being a mother. She somehow got through everything we brought her way including incidents such as the “lost in the sewers” adventure, learning to love cats after her toddler took a firm stand “that’s all I want for Christmas and I won’t change my mind!!”, and dealing with extreme worry the whole while the “Outward Bound” experience was underway. These are just a very few examples – there are so many more and she truly was amazing at managing whatever came her way.

And then … she was a grandma and she couldn’t have been more excited and happy!!! So many fun memories and stories of the grandkids growing up, that she loved to share. In her later years she was thrilled and so happy hearing from her grandkids as they shared stories of their lives and adventures.

After her children were older mom pursued additional interests such as travelling at every opportunity. During these past few years she really enjoyed reminiscing and sharing stories of places that she had visited. She also worked outside of the home at a few different places over the years. Mom took great pride in her work and enjoyed it very much, while at the same time making many lifelong friends.

Mom lived a full life, and we all were so fortunate to know her care and love.

Love you mom forever. We will miss you and treasure our memories always.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

We are extremely grateful for the nurses, PSWs, dining room staff, Ella, Lilia, and Bridgeht at Greenway Retirement Residence for such kindness and thoughtfulness extended to all of us during these final times with mom.Thank you also to the Central West LHIN for much appreciated guidance and support.

In accordance with mom’s wishes, there will not be a funeral. There will be a celebration of life at a later time
