It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest Bertilla Taurasi – forever cherished wife to Antonio, devoted mother to Sonia (Stephen) and Monica (Davide), and adoring nonna to Jessica, Alexander, Isabella and Sebastian.
Surrounded by her closest loved ones, Bertilla passed away July 17, 2022 – after a long and fearless fight against cancer.
Bertilla was born to Rosa and Lino, in Veneto, Italy, in 1945. As the oldest of five, she always took great joy in caring for her younger siblings – Graziella, Adriano (Giuseppina), Gabriella (Gino) and Loris (Lisa) – who will always remember her fondly.
In 1972, Bertilla first met her husband and soulmate, Antonio, at church in Toronto, Canada. The two married in 1973, and later welcomed their daughters – the loves of their lives, Sonia and Monica. Bertilla devoted her whole self to motherhood and was the foundation of her family. She dedicated her life to making her husband, children and grandchildren happy – always filling her home and kitchen with all their favourite meals and treats and covering them in loving hugs and kisses. Bertilla has now been reunited with her and Antonio's heavenly son, Mauro, whom they devastatingly lost before she could kiss or hold him.
Bertilla’s greatest passion, beyond her dedicating herself to family, was travelling and creating special memories with them. She and Antonio loved having their Florida home filled with the laughs and tiny feet of their grandchildren.
Anyone who knew Bertilla was touched by her tender kindness and caring nature. She was a constant pillar of strength and will be cherished by all for her positivity and passion for life.
Our grief over losing Bertilla is infinite, and our loving memory of her will always remain in our hearts.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge) on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church (8500 Islington Avenue, Woodbridge) Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 9:30 a.m., with entombment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
