Bertelle passed away into the arms of God on February 11, 2017. She was loved and will be missed by her husband Quintin (of 56 years), daughter Karen (Martin) Sommer, son Gerard (Leah) and grandchildren Miranda, Sarah, Claire and Grace. Originally from Bombay, India, she came from a large family and is survived by her sister Laurel ‘Poppy’ D’Sylva, and many nieces and nephews in Canada, England, New Zealand, India, and USA. Bertelle was very involved with activities and groups at St. Mary’s Church, Brampton, and was a member of the Catholic Woman’s League for 27 years. She served as its President from 2001-2002. Faced with many health challenges in recent years, she always confronted them with courage, determination and a positive attitude. Bertelle will be missed by many family and friends. She will be forever in our hearts. Her family extends their most sincere gratitude to all the nurses, staff, and doctors at Brampton Civic Hospital Dialysis Unit.
Friends may call at The Ward Funeral Home “Brampton Chapel” 52 Main St. S. (Hwy#10) Brampton from 5-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held at St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church 66A Main St S. Brampton on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Kidney foundation of Canada.
