It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the peaceful passing of Benny Corazza, surrounded by his family, on Friday, May 26, 2023, in his 88th year.
Benny was a loving man who was devoted to his wife Alice ‘nee Panizza’ for 64 years. Beloved father of David (Christina) & Lorena (Guy). Proud grandfather of Michael (Veronika), Stefanie (Sebastian) & Matthew (Megan). Devoted bisnono of Christopher. He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, nieces & nephews & extended family in Canada and abroad.
Benny came from humble beginnings in Trento, Italy born to the late Ida & Romedio Corazza. He was the last of 10 children and immigrated to Canada in 1957 with one of his brothers in search of a better life. After working in Canada for about a year he returned to Italy where he met and fell in love with Alice. When he returned to Canada to continue working, he asked Alice to come to Canada and marry him. She accepted his proposal, and while she travelled by boat, he organized their entire wedding.
He was a man of many loves, including making and sharing vino & grappa, deer hunting, playing cards, and spending time with his family & friends at the cottage in Wasaga Beach. He enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. He had a great sense of humour and would captivate an audience with his smile and storytelling. Foremost, he was a hardworking man and was always busy with social events.
All who met him instantly loved him. He made connections very easily; everyone was considered his “friend”. His loss to his family and friends is significant and can't be explained in words. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts & minds of those who knew him.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge) on Monday, May 29, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. & 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service at St. Bernard de Clairvaux Catholic Church, 1789 Lawrence Ave W., North York, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
