McCLENAGHAN, Beatrice Annie
Peacefully on February 6, 2011 at Brampton Civic Hospital. Survived by her beloved husband Bill of 58 years. Loving mother of John, Dan, Vickie, Beth, Anne and Andy. Bea was a devoted grandmother of 14. Survived by her sister Margaret Stephenson and sister in law Edith Swan and many nieces and nephews. Bea was a loving person who always had a kind word for everyone she met.
Bea served in the R.C.A.F. during the 2nd world war. After the war was over Bea was able to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. She trained at Toronto Western Hospital and graduated in 1950. Bea’s first nursing job was in the V.O.N. Shortly after she started her family with Bill in Waterloo, Ontario. They then moved to Brampton, Ontario in 1966, making many close friends in their Greystone Cr. neighbourhood, and through St. Bartholomew’s church. As the children grew up Bea decided to go back to her nursing career and worked for 18 years at the Vanier Center for Women. After retiring Bea and Bill volunteered for Meals on Wheels and other local community organizations. They also took the opportunity to travel the world and made many good friends along the way. Their later winters were spent in Panama City Beach, Florida.
She advocated a healthy lifestyle for all her family and friends and she set an example with active participation in fitness classes, long walks, swimming and keeping up with her grandchildren. Her caring letters were always appreciated by her friends and family. Family was very important and especially enjoyed being a part of her grandchildren’s day to day lives. The family would like to thank the staff at Southbrook and at the Brampton Civic Hospital for the care provided to Bea.
Respecting the wishes of the deceased there will be no visitation or funeral service. Within the next few weeks friends and family will be notified of the date and location of a celebration of her life.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Epilepsy Ontario would be appreciated.
